Whether you go for bold red, rich brown or a glossy blonde, color can update any hairstyle & make you look fresh. Here are gorgeous colors that look great on long hair. I chose long hairstyles because these colors are extraordinary on long hair, plus you can see the color better. But of course these colors would look great on any length of hair. 
This first photo is a terrific shade of red. Not sure you want to go red yet? Why not try a temporary color. Just like permanent, minus the peroxide, this form of color acts like a stain and will last usually 4-6weeks possibly longer with the right color treated products. color Be careful not to color already treated hair yourself. 
If you have light brown hair or even dark blonde hair, blonde highlights can add a ton of depth to your hair. You can weave in up to 3 different types of colors. Ask me about lowlights as well. If you have blonde hair, darker lowlights add more contrast.

Rich, dark hair can look lush on long hair. Here’s a few tips if you’re going for highlights: 1. If you have fine hair, adding any color will give your hair body because coloring causes your hair’s shafts to swell. 2. Keep in mind that highlights around the face can brighten your complexion. You’ll want to opt for colors that warm the skin & enhance your natural hair color. 3. Ask me about lowlights. Lowlighting means darker strands are woven into the lighter ones creating more depth & drama. 4. If you use traditional foil methods for your highlights, keep in mind these are harder to care for once your roots grow out. Foil highlights require precision application, which makes fixing dark roots costly. However, if you go with widely-spaced, less structured pieces of color (called ‘hair painting’ or ‘baliage,’ touch-ups will be easier. 5. You can opt for either full or partial highlights. Partial means the stylist sticks to the top part of your head, instead of highlighting all over. If you have thick hair, you’ll want to go partial otherwise you’ll be there forever. In summer, color the hair that shows when you wear a ponytail. When choosing a shade of red haircolor, you’ll want to pick one that’s not only flattering to your complexion but also makes it glow from within. But first off, you need to know if you CAN go red. To do this you need to figure out if your skin has warm or cool undertones. Hold a piece a paper up to your face. If your skin coloring appears to be pink, you’re a cool. If it appears yellow or olive, you’re warm. Warm skin tones look best with all sorts of shades (except bright blonde). You can look great in red (dark, rich tones will counteract sallowness), however, cool skin girls should avoid reds because they bring out the pink in your skin.
If you have brown hair, whether dark like this picture or lighter, you can do so much with it. You can add caramel highlights for depth, tint hair all over either darker or lighter or try for an auburn color. This color is typical of women with Latin roots (think Eva Longoria) & is rich & chocolate-y. Why mess with a gorgeous color? Keep in mind that brown & black-haired girls are more apt to show gray hairs than blonde girls, but have no fear, these are easy to cover up. Asian women are known for their silky ebony hair which looks especially great when it’s long (shows off the shine).
If you are of Asian or Latin descent and have naturally silky black hair, most coloring options will look great on you with the possible exception of blonde. According to Allure’s “Confessions of a Beauty Editor,” if you want to go more than five shades lighter than your natural hair color, you should “step away from the bleach.” Women who were blonde as children tend to look best with blonde hair. The California look is blonde, but not too blonde Not all brown is boring. I love this color on long hair. Most natural browns aren’t this golden. While your natural color can be flat & boring, an all-over color can brighten your face.
